BIG DATA Co., Ltd.’s commitment to promoting sustainable cross-sector collaboration has been recognized! The first "ESG for Culture Impact Awards," hosted by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), held its ceremony on the 21st. BIG DATA Co., Ltd.'s platform, DailyView, won the "Multi-Collaboration Award" for its series of reports, "Looking Back at the Vanishing Cultural Coordinates Under the Wave of Technology." Wei Chiang, COO of BIG DATA, who accepted the award, stated that BIG DATA Co., Ltd. is long dedicated to data insight, content reporting, and issue curating. This award showcases BIG DATA's strength and corporate responsibility in cultural communication, cross-sector collaboration, and promoting sustainability.
Documenting Culture with Content, Connecting Society with Data: Guarding Cultural Sites Prone to Being Forgotten
Since launching Sustainability Thermometer in 2024, DailyView has continuously utilized its content and data capabilities to record the cultures gradually disappearing yet still deserving of attention amidst the rapid wave of digitalization. The award-winning series, "Looking Back at the Vanishing Cultural Coordinates Under the Wave of Technology," guides readers back into the cultural sites easily overlooked or forgotten during the fast pace of digital progress through on-site visits and in-depth interviews.
The series spanned two major themes: "If This Bookstore Disappears" visited over a dozen independent bookstores across Taiwan, documenting their perseverance between commercial pressures and cultural missions, presenting the lights that remain on late at night and the reading memories diligently preserved. "1.33:1 The Unique Square Romance of an Older Era" delved into film reel and professional tape restoration sites, capturing the visual workers wrestling with time under dim light, using their hands and skill to revive fading cinematic history. To present the diverse facets of visual culture, the team also visited art cinemas like Eslite Art House, SPOT Taipei, and Tainan Chien Shan Mei Theatre, listening to how they continue to screen classic and diverse works amidst commercial tides, thereby preserving a way for the city to view the world.
The overall project, spanning culture, film/television, and publishing, received praise from the jury for its three-pronged approach—visuals, documentation, and data narrative—in re-mapping the cultural landscape. Chiang Chih-Wei, COO of BIG DATA Co., Ltd., remarked that competing against numerous listed companies for the ESG for Culture Award, BIG DATA's recognition is a significant and valuable encouragement, symbolizing that the company's efforts in cultural sustainability have been seen. She emphasized that cultural sustainability is not a slogan but an action requiring long-term investment. DailyView has long cultivated deep content, and will continue to work to ensure cultural issues are understood and seen by more people, becoming a positive force driving Taiwan's sustainable development.
Cultural Sustainability Becomes a Core Axis in the New Era of Corporate ESG
This year’s ESG for Culture awards ceremony conveyed a clear trend: corporate participation in the cultural field is rapidly evolving, no longer limited to merely donating resources, but actively becoming co-creators of cultural value through action and expertise. The importance of culture within ESG is becoming increasingly prominent, establishing it as an indispensable dimension of sustainability. BIG DATA Co., Ltd. will continue this mission, using data observation and content creation as its foundation, collaborating with cultural workers and social forces across various fields to promote more diverse cultural cooperation, ensuring that cultural sustainability in Taiwan continues to be seen, supported, and expanded.
